Five years after the success of the first part, Sex Is Zero 2 was finally released. It was clear that the ending of the first film was perfect enough to conclude the series, but the box office success and the film’s impact pushed filmmakers from the land of Kimchi to decide to create the next installment.
While the first part helped establish the name of lead actress Ha Ji-Won, in Sex Is Zero 2, actress Song Ji-Hyo’s name was brought closer to the audience, before she gradually made her mark and became a major star in Korean cinema.
Sex Is Zero 2 takes place three years after the events of the first part. At this point, Eun-Sik (Im Chang-Jung) and Eun-Hyo have broken up, and this “first heartbreak” left him numb to women for a long time—he no longer wanted to love or pursue anyone. However, eventually, he meets the girl he falls for, Kyung-Ah (Song Ji-Hyo), a member of the school’s swimming team. But the emotional scars from his past make him very hesitant to express his feelings, and the two of them haven’t even made it past a kiss.
Meanwhile, Sung-Guk (Choi Sung-Guk) is now the leader of the K-1 club. Coincidentally, his club and the swimming club share the same building. Sung-Guk considers himself a self-proclaimed expert on sex and relationships, and he is trying to help Eun-Sik get past the kissing stage so he can move on to more intimate moments…”
